St. Edward Lights the Way
St. Edward School celebrated Catholic Schools Week with a full slate of activities. Students participated in a "Why I Like St. Edward School" essay contest. Winners from each grade were chosen, and the winning essays were read after the weekend Masses. There was also a spaghetti dinner after the Saturday evening Mass and a continental-type breakfast after the Sunday morning Mass. Other events for the week included the annual balloon release, alumni guest speakers, and a skating party at Charlie's Roller Rink. Students also wrote an essay about their Catholic heroes.
The 4th/5th grade class attended Mass at the Cathedral in Covington on Wednesday, Jan. 30. Thanks to Fr. Doug, the students were able to eat pizza with Bishop Foys following the Mass. Fr. Doug later led the students on a tour of the Covington/Newport area, including a stop at the Freedom Bell in Newport.
Thanks to the St. Edward Alumni Association for sponsoring so many of the Catholic Schools Week events! Our school is extremely fortunate to have such an active and generous group of alumni!!!
The theme for this year's Catholic Schools Week was "Catholic Schools Light the Way." It is the sincerest hope and prayer of all who work at St. Edward School that the students will live out the principles taught them at this school in their daily lives and, in turn, be a beacon of light to all those they encounter.
